Lo que viene: fast food
El mercado argentino del Fast-food sabe más de fracasos estrepitosos que de grandes éxitos. Con algunas honrosas excepciones –la última fue Starbucks-, la mayoría de las cadenas internacionales –desde Pizza Hut hasta Kentucky Fried Chicken, pasando por Dunkin Donuts, Schlotzsky’s y Domino’s- que intentaron desembarcaron en Buenos Aires se tuvieron que volver a su país con muchas más pena que gloria y varios cientos de miles de dólares perdidos en el camino.
Sin embargo, todos los años aparecen nuevas propuestas y acá te contamos las que más nos llamaron la atención.
Be Frika
Después de las hamburguesas cuadradas de Wendy’s uno podría pensar que ya estaba todo inventado en la tierra del paty. Sin embargo, uno de los dueños de Cala Pizzas quiere hacer pie en un terreno donde fracasó Fuddruckers con una propuesta de mini hamburguesas gourmet e ingredientes sofisticados como queso brie, tomates confitados y pesto de albahaca. A mitad de camino entre McDonald’s y los restós de Palermo.
California Burrito (CBC)
Lo más parecido a Taco’s Bell que se puede conseguir sin subirse a un avión de American Airlines. La firma se especializa en comida tex-mex –desde los burritos que bautizan a la marca hasta nachos y tacos-, aunque sus dueños son un grupo de inversores norteamericanos que sumaron un socio argentino. Se consigue en la calle Lavalle y en el DOT Shopping.
Mega Döner
Por lejos, la propuesta más jugada. Mega Döner es un fast-food especializado en la cocina turco-alemana. La cadena fue fundada por dos alemanes que llegaron a la ciudad de Córdoba como estudiantes y se reconvirtieron en empresarios gastronómicos. Por ahora, solo está presente en el interior (Córdoba y Mendoza), aunque prometen un próximo desembarco porteño.
Church’s Chicken
El pollo frito es la última frontera que le falta cruzar a la Argentina en el proceso de latinoamericanización acelerada que vivió en los últimos años. Desde O Rey do Frango hasta el Pollo Campero, cadenas de pollo frito le pelean a McDonald’s el liderazgo en materia de fast food en la mayoría de los mercados latinoamericanos. Hasta el momento, la Argentina se mantuvo al margen de esta avanzada avícola -e incluso se puede jactar de una incursión fallida de KFC en los ’90-, aunque desde hace unos meses la texana Iglesia del Pollo hizo pública su intención de instalarse en el país en un plan de expansión regional que también incluye Brasil y Chile.
Almacén de Pizzas
La cadena de pizzerías gourmet hace unas semanas puso un pie en el negocio del fast food con la apertura de su primer local en el patio de comidas del Dot Shopping. Detrás de la marca se encuentra Sebastián Ríos, una de los empresarios que más conoce del rubro gastronómico en la Argentina y que entre otras proyectos fue uno de los dueños de las pizzerías Duero, Ebro y Miño.
Kono Temakería
Con dos locales que ya están en funcionamiento –en el microcentro y Las Cañitas-, se promociona como el primer restaurante de comida rápida japonesa. Su especialidad son los conos rellenos de arroz (los famosos temakis) que se presentan en más de 32 variedades

Alfredo omisitiste de mencionar la cadena de Lomitos Beto`s. Que conozca tiene locales en el Unicenter y en el Shopping Devoto, los lomitos son riquisimos y las papas fritas con huevos revueltos, un manjar. El blog es muy ineresante. saludos

Alfredo, muy bueno el blog!, estoy usando tu libro para un tp de la facultad, muy interesante realmente.
CBC ya tiene varios locales más, por Belgrano y Palermoy es verdad que es lo más parecido a Taco Bell que hay aca!. Por otro lado, los precios son más accesibles que los otros locales “gourmet” de comida Mexicana.

Recuerdo ademas de las mencionadas a Lomiton o algo asi que era una cadena chilena, que al principio pintaba bien y luego se fue pinchando.
Extraño a Wendy’s. Lo mejor en comida chatarra, con esas papas con panceta y colesterol que eran lo mejor en plaza.
Una especial mencion para el desaparecido “Chori corner” (Lavalle y Esmeralda), que junto a Facination ocuparon las tardes que me rateaba del secundario.

Las mejores hamburguesas del tipo no caseras y bien rápidas eran las de Billy Lomito, una cadena rosarina que finalmente desapareció. El nombre honraba bien a los musculosos clientes rosarinos que, aparentemente, fueron desapareciendo…

Hola Cansarnoso: en realidad, Subway ya había vuelto a Rosario. A mi siempre fue una propuesta que me gustó, pero acá en Buenos Aires nunca terminó de prender. Lo más extraño es que en Rosario funciona muy bien. Se ve que hay una conexión oculta entre NY (la casa matriz de Subway) y la Chicago argentina.
Sr. Varise: usted (como yo) siempre terminamos hablando de Rosario.

Otra importante ventaja es que el producto exibido en forma virtual trasciende los límites del anterior sistema lograndose que el producto se exiba sin limitaciones geográficas, alcanzandose un mayor campo de interacción (provincias, ciudades,localidades, pueblos, etc).
No existe ningún costo para el ingreso, se intercambie o no. Además con la incorporación de ticketvirtuales se logra evitar la falsificación de los creditos anteriores.

Thetrueke.com ya cuenta con sus primeros 4 locales adheridos en Argentina al sistema, y lanza a mediados de mayo su primer revista quincenal donde estarán publicados los productos de locales adheridos, y productos/bienes y/o servicios de usuarios de thetrueke.com, entre otros beneficios, como descuentos importantes, y premios que presentará a lo largo del 2010. Está en proceso el desarrollo de una tarjeta que también podrá ser usada en locales y a futuro en el transporte.

hola Alfredo, entre las cadenas q no estan mas recuerdo a Bonplair, fast food francesa de mejor calidad tenia varios locales, no se pq desaparecio un dia, se extraña cuando uno anda apurado por florida.
Jump Back, otro desparecido con la convertibilidad, aunq no era cadena, que buenos platos tex mex, lo extraño tambien.
lei en una nota de la nacion q vuelven Tucan y Todo Frio, pase por Mercedes hace unos dias y vi un antiguo local o fabrica de Tucan, con el logo y el pajarraco algo desteñido pero airoso aun, lastima no pude sacarle una foto,pedile a alguien de Mercedes te la pondra enviar, no se q calle era, pero seria un documento invalorable, antes q pinten el local

I know I’m a little late in contributing my comments but this particular article made me think. It was an enlightening blog post. Si pasás por Santa Fe tenés que probar los lomitos de La Gallega, uno de los tantos carribares y uno de los pocos que realmente le va bien, todos ubicados en la costanera.
Más allá de la comida, lo interesante es la experiencia de comprar ahí, una mezcla rara en donde gente de todas clases sociales termina un domingo a la tarde en el mismo lugar con el fin de disfrutar un buen lomito o hamburgesa.

I have learned some new things via your blog.
