Animal Collective, invitación a soñar
¿Es Syd Barrett? Puse en mi compactera el último disco de Animal Collective… Suena In The Flowers y todo queda envuelto en una sinfonía cósmica… Estos experimentadores sonoros, criados en Baltimore y forjados en Nueva York, están de regreso con un álbum mucho más entrador y ameno que los anteriores, pero no por ello menos genial… Merriweather Post Pavilion es el disco con el que Animal Collective fue requerido por los rankings, aunque su brillantez, fermentada en la independencia y lejana de los grandes sellos, ya les había hecho ganar miles de fanáticos en todo el mundo… Y ya tiene su versión argentina, gracias al sello Bingo! Records, por lo que puede conseguirse en las bateas locales… 
Si In The Flowers sigue las premisas del primer Pink Floyd y de los Flaming Lips, My Girls corre por el costado dance… Also Frightened es un tema que McCartney hubiese incluido hoy en el Sgt. Pepper… Es sólo el comienzo… La obra es un recorrido circular, envolvente, hipnótico y, al mismo tiempo, un paseo bajo las estrellas o al calor de una tarde estival, descalzos por un césped flotante… Es la música que uno desearía para que los sueños fueran siempre confortables… No es una novedad, pero siempre es bueno (como no me canso de remarcar desde este blog) que estos discos lleguen a la Argentina, aunque sea un año más tarde… Más allá de Internet y los downloads, quienes amamos el disco como objeto estaremos eternamente agradecidos… Y los dejo con el video de My Girls, uno de los temas mencionados…

…tendrè que ir a la disqueria y escucharlo…estas notas no ayudan en nada a detener la compra compulsiva de discos…ayer adquirì mi primer disco de DEVENDRA BANHART “SMOKEY ROLLS DOWN THUNDER CANYON”…absolutamente placentero.

esta banda es impresionante. me dio un poco de cosita el otro dia cuando salio una nota en La Nación sobre ellos. un poco de frustración y un poco de alegría. pero bueno, siempre pasa esto de volverse un poco mas mainstream. igual me gusto mas esta reseña que la que dieron en la impresa. La Nación es el primer diario sin contar al NO de Página 12 que menciona esta banda en Argentina. es un avance.

Diego, muchas gracias por dar cabida a este enorme disco en un medio tan masivo, y por hacerlo respetuosamente (la breve reseña que se hizo de este disco en los “discos del año” de la Rolling Stone era sencillamente vergonzosa).
Para mi, MPP es uno de los más interesantes discos que escuché en años. Lo compré en USA (gracias Am@azon) cuando salió y todavía, un año después, no me canso de escucharlo. Brillante.
También muy recomendable el EP que salió a fin de 2009, “Fall Be Kind”.
