ONA Awards, otra estrella para lanacion.com

La semana pasada se hizo pública la nominación de lanacion.com como finalista de los ONA Awards 2010, el premio de periodismo digital más prestigioso del mundo anglosajón.

Más allá de la noticia -que nos llena de orgullo y satisfacción por el reconocimiento a la excelencia y la innovación en medios on line- es interesante conocer un poco más en detalle el significado de un galardón así para un sitio de información y servicios 100 por ciento argentino.

La distinción es otorgada por la Online News Association, una entidad que agrupa a los grandes medios digitales en inglés: diarios como el Washington Post, The New York TimesUSA Today, The Guardian y Daily Telegraph, portales como Yahoo! y MSN, referentes web como NPR.com, CNN y PBS.org, o irreverentes como The Onion, entre otros.

Para que se entienda mejor, el ONA es el “Oscar del periodismo digital de EE.UU”. En su gran conferencia anual ofrece uno de los mejores workshops de prácticas, desarrollos y nuevas tendencias de la industria de Internet (casi todos vinculados a la práctica del periodismo multimedia) y, en su cena de gala, dan charlas magistrales invitados especiales como Leo Laporte, Arianna Huffington, Paul Saffo y Evan Williams, entre otros.

En los pasillos del ONA no es extraño cruzarse a blogueros estrella como JD Lasica y Jeff Jarvis, entrepreneurs como Guy Kawasaki o periodistas estrella como Alan Rusbridger (The Guardian) y Bill Keller (The New York Times).

Este año, lanacion.com fue elegido finalista de la categoría “Excelencia en periodismo digital no inglés para grandes sitios” y comparte una terna con dos referentes de la industria como El País (España) y G1 Globo (Brasil). El año pasado también estuvo nominado como finalista, pero el premio mayor se lo llevó el experimental Soitu.es, criatura creada e ideada por Gumersindo Lafuente, Borja Echeverría, Raúl Rivero y equipo, que hoy conducen el diario digital del grupo Prisa.
